Abstract

This retrospective case study was conducted to describe the nursery performance of striped catfish (Pangasianodon hypophthalmus) juveniles and operating indicators of grow-out businesses in Muaro Jambi, Indonesia. Separate grow-out productivity and financial summaries from 2015 were descriptively analyzed with six nursery demonstration records summarized in a June 2025 evaluation. The datasets were not pooled and had different observation units. Stocking densities were 35-100 fish/m2. The harvest weight, culture duration, reported feed conversion ratio (FCR), survival and specific growth rate (SGR) of the six groups were 40.15 ± 8.55 g/fish, 59.83 ± 26.69 days, 0.92 ± 0.16, 83.38 ± 16.98% and 4.25 ± 1.71%/day (mean ± standard deviation between groups). Three groups were in the 40–50 g target interval, one was above the target, and two were below. Both below-target records were at 100 fish/m2 under documented water-supply constraints. Paired grow-out productivity records of three respondents in Kota Karang and six in Tangkit Baru. Annual changes in revenues were 0 to 28.00%. Annual changes in accounting profits were 17.24 to 47.32%. Annual changes in recalculated after adoption revenue-to-cost ratios were 1.28 to 1.35. Post-adoption costs are nursery and grow-out costs. Margins are for the integrated enterprise. Main limitations Small number of aggregate records, no within-group replication, unverified linkage of nursery and financial records, and observational design precluding causal attribution. Water supply planning, joint monitoring of growth and survival, and cycle-specific cost records are practical priorities.

Padat tebar berkisar 35–100 ekor/m².
